How it Works
Our ministry promotes
spiritual growth
and stewardship renewal
in congregations that want to grow.
Here's how it works.
|
|
Leadership Definition
We form a Campaign Committee who will serve
as the leaders of your campaign. These people
are chosen and recruited by your pastor(s) and a
select group of leaders of your congregation.
Your PathWay consultant will guide you through
this process to ensure that the Campaign
Committee is comprised of people who are gifted
and talented for each area of ministry.
|
|
Retreat
We gather your Campaign Committee and staff
together with a team of PathWay consultants
for a time of spiritual renewal and training.
From Friday evening through mid-afternoon on
Saturday, we grow together in the Word, prayer,
and understanding of the vision God has for your
congregation and how we will partner with Him
through this campaign. By the end of our retreat,
everyone present will be inspired, motivated, and
trained to recruit and lead other members of your
congregation to be a part of this vision.
|
|
Cross ministry
PathWay provides 1,500 pocket-sized silver
crosses inscribed with "God loves you" for your
people to give away as a witness to the gospel.
We introduce the cross ministry to your
leadership during your retreat, and train them
to bring this outreach ministry to your entire
congregation. As they experience a renewal of
their faith, your people will grow in their ability
to witness their faith with confidence through the
cross ministry.
|
|
Campaign Committee meetings
In the early months of your campaign, PathWay
consultants will be at your church on six
occasions to meet with your Campaign
Committee for several days of training,
encouragement, prayer, and consultation.
PathWay leads twelve training sessions designed
to equip the members of your congregation to
orchestrate events, make phone calls, visit homes,
and celebrate each component of your campaign
with excellence and creativity.
|
|
Guest pastors on three Sundays
On three Sundays during the campaign, LCMS
pastors who minister with PathWay serve as
your guest preachers. Each sermon is prayerfully
crafted to inspire a renewal of your congregation's
faith, dedication, and commitment to the vision
God has for your church and community.
Creative, original orders of service in traditional,
contemporary, and convergent styles are available
for these celebrations.
|
|
Two Bible Studies
Our PathWay pastors present two Bible studies
designed to inspire and encourage your entire
congregation. The first, held early in your
campaign, invites people to consider how God
has gifted them; the second, held just before your
people are ready to make a commitment,
challenges them to consider what their response
to God’s gifts can be. Held on Sunday evenings
from 6:00-8:00 with time for refreshments and
fellowship, these studies bring a renewed desire
in your people to be together in God’s Word.
|
|
Home Visits
Every household - members, guests, and friends -
of your congregation is visited by your own
members who PathWay has trained to be
ambassadors of care. These visits are not about
money or making commitments to your
campaign. Rather, they are to form new
friendships and facilitate ministry. The Home
Visitors will also pick up the surveys each member
of the congregation was invited to complete, and
the prayer requests they desire to submit for
inclusion in the 24 hour Prayer Vigil.
|
|
Prayer Vigils
PathWay will train your members who are
gifted in intercession to prepare your sanctuary
for several Prayer Vigils that serve as a vital
catalyst for spiritual growth in your campaign.
The prayer requests of your members, collected
during worship and the Home Visits, are collected
in a booklet for use during the vigils. Your people
grow in the grace of prayer as they attend at the
time of their choice to pray about the concerns of
your people. The first Vigil lasts a full 24 hours;
subsequent Vigils are for six hours. The prayer
life of your congregation will never be the same.
|
|
"Heart of the Ministry" dinner
The people who give so willingly of their time,
gifts, and offerings – the “heart” of your
ministry – are the first to commit to God’s vision
for your congregation at this special event. Your
people see the video PathWay has created which
depicts your congregation’s past, present, and
future, and one of our PathWay consultants serves
as your guest speaker. This is a night to
remember, and a night designed to inspire your
leadership to new heights of commitment.

|
All Church Fellowship & Children's Party
Now, your whole congregation comes together for
an informal, fun time of fellowship and envisioning
their future. While the children enjoy their own
party, the confirmed membership of your church
gather for a free banquet. After dinner, they
witness inspiring stories of faith, listen as the
pastor describes God's vision for their future, and
hear the results of the Heart of the Ministry
Dinner commitments. They are thus inspired to
respond to also make their commitment to the
campaign as the Lord leads them during the next
few weeks of worship.
|
|
Pledging Sundays
PathWay helps you plan worship that will serve
as a catalyst for the Holy Spirit to inspire your
people to respond to God’s vision. Your members
commit to a three-year pledge over and above
their present level of giving, and bring this pledge
to the altar on one of these Sundays.
|
|
Commitment Visits
We train your members to make appointments
to stop by at the homes of your members who
desire to make a commitment but for any reason
have not had the chance to be present during a
Pledging Sunday. These are brief, friendly visits
made to people who have invited you to stop by
and help them be a part of what God is doing in
your congregation. There is never an attempt
to put pressure on anyone, for any reason, at any
time in your PathWay campaign; we desire
everyone to be motivated by the gospel when
deciding how the Lord is calling them to respond
to his vision for you.
|
|
Celebration Sunday
This is the big day of celebration for your church.
With a festive, thankful service of Word and
Sacrament, the congregation hears about the
results of your campaign, and celebrates the
spiritual growth and financial commitment that
have resulted from your campaign thus far.
Normally, this Sunday takes place five to six
months after the beginning of your PathWay
experience.
|
|
Three Year Continuation
PathWay serves you for a total of three years,
advising you on ways to keep the vision alive
and the momentum going. Many congregations
engage PathWay numerous times because we
have been such a blessing to their lives of
stewardship.
